Dudley Interchange

Leading quantity surveyor CQS Solutions has played a vital role in the development of the new Dudley Interchange – one of the West Midlands’ most significant transport infrastructure investments.

The £24 million scheme led by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) and Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) replaces an outdated bus station with a modern, fully integrated interchange linking bus services with the new West Midlands Metro extension.

The new twostorey facility will offer improved passenger facilities and realtime travel information when it welcomes its first passengers later this year.

In mid2025, CQS Solutions was engaged by the main contractor Taylor Woodrow to provide specialist quantity surveying services to support the procurement and commercial management of the main civils works and ensure work progressed smoothly and within budget.

CQS Solutions’ remit focused on strengthening the project’s commercial controls, ensuring robust procurement of remaining civils packages and supporting Taylor Woodrow and the client team in managing cost, risk and contractual obligations.

It has also meant working closely with TfWM’s delivery team to monitor expenditure and identify potential cost pressures arising from market conditions, material availability and on-site complexities.

Owner Tim Lloyd said: “CQS Solutions’ involvement in the Dudley Interchange demonstrates our ability to integrate seamlessly into major infrastructure programmes, providing targeted commercial expertise at critical stages of delivery.

“By reinforcing procurement processes, strengthening cost management and supporting collaborative decisionmaking, CQS has made a major contribution to helping WMCA and TfWM deliver a modern, futureproofed transport gateway for the people of Dudley and the wider West Midlands.”
