Tim Lloyd BSc MCIArb – Principal Surveyor
Tim began his surveying career in 2001 with Wates Construction in the Birmingham region working on multi-million pound developments in commercial, residential and health care sectors. Tim established CQS in 2007/2008 to provide professional commercial services to SME’s and has worked with and advised dozens of organisations who have become repeat customers.
Tim completed his degree in Quantity Surveying and Cost Management at the University of Wolverhampton in 2005 and has since gone on to gain MCIArb status on the Construction Adjudication pathway.
“Having worked in other industries before coming to Construction as a mature student, the constantly changing nature of project work is what makes the job so appealing. I get real satisfaction from working closely with business owners to manage their risks and improve their outcomes”
Tim is married and has two daughters. Outside of work Tim is a keen motorcyclist and gardener.
Richard Vickers BSc (Hons) – Quantity Surveyor
Richard has worked in the Construction Industry since 2008 where he began his career in the family joinery business, progressing on to the drawing office at ‘Taylor Lane’ and eventually moving to CQS in 2014. Richard gained a first-class honours degree from the University of Wolverhampton and is enrolled with RICS studying towards his Chartered status.
Richard is an accomplished guitar player and listens to a wide range of music, attending gigs and concerts at every opportunity.

Richard Chambers – Quantity Surveyor and Estimator
Richard joined CQS Solutions in 2016 and brings a wealth of knowledge having the benefit of over 40 years’ experience. Richard has extensive construction experience at senior management level for several regional main contractors and is highly skilled in tender preparation, programming, procurement, and Health & Safety management.
Richard has excellent IT skills and is always alert to new methods and opportunities. Richard is a great asset to CQS, there are many times when the younger members of staff will consult Richard on specific technical or buildability details and his constant alertness to problem solving is a real bonus.
Richard is a proud grandfather to 9 and enjoys spending time with family.
Ben Allen – Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Ben began working as a groundworker in 2013 for a civil engineering firm based in the North West of England. After completing his HNC in Construction and the Built Environment Ben took up the role as an assistant quantity surveyor with the same company in 2015.
Ben joined CQS in January 2018 after relocating to the Midlands and is currently studying part time for a degree in Quantity Surveying through an Apprenticeship scheme run by the RICS. On successful completion of this course Ben will be degree qualified and chartered.
Ben’s favourite aspect of the job is seeing a project through from the first spade in the ground to completion. “Once the finished article is visible the stresses and strains that come with the construction process are made worth it.”
Ben’s hobbies include football, boxing and cricket.
“I train frequently and try to keep myself in the best possible shape. I try to play football but it’s difficult with two left feet!”
Thomas Smith BSc – Quantity Surveyor
After a ten-year career in the Army serving as a Recovery Mechanic within the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers, Tom left in 2016 to return to the University of Wolverhampton to complete his degree in Quantity Surveying.
Whilst working towards his degree he also worked for a large national main contractor specialising in the water sector working on new build and maintenance projects to several clean water and wastewater plants.
In 2019 having gained a first class honours degree, Tom joined CQS to broaden his experience in a more general contracting sectors.
“Working with Tim and the team at CQS Solutions has been fantastic, working on a range of projects and tasks has quickly enhanced my knowledge with the support of the Senior QS’s within the company. I thoroughly enjoy being able to work on a range of projects across various sites each bring their own unique challenges which require resolving.”
Tom is married to Ashley and they have 3 children together.
Jon Smith – Trainee QS
Jon has been in the building trade since 2008 in various roles on both commercial and domestic projects, in 2007 he enrolled himself on a full time HND course in Construction and the Built Environment. Jon then moved on to a BSc (Hons) degree in Quantity Surveying whilst working, which he will complete summer 2020.
Jon joined CQS in 2019 as a trainee and has already demonstrated great understanding of design information and detailing which is testament to his previous ‘on the job’ experience.
Jon is highly self-motivated and has proven ability to problem solve whilst working under pressure, ensuring targets are met.
When Jon is not working or studying, he is a busy family man and has a real passion for travel and a keen interest in sports.
Adele Lloyd – Office Manager
Adele is a highly effective office manager and experienced clerical administrator. Adele organises payments to suppliers, deals with Payroll, invoicing and other administration duties.
Adele is also a qualified make-up artist and mum to two daughters.
