We are currently seeking candidates for a Quantity Surveyor position, based in Welshpool, Powys:

CQS are a dynamic team of surveyors, diverse in thinking, have a consultative approach and we operate an innovative quantity surveying practice. We are continuously adapting to new construction tools and techniques such as BIM and Modern Methods of Construction.

With a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the industry, as Senior Quantity Surveyor you provide full cost management and reporting developing good working relationships with the diverse range of suppliers for the project.

You will have experience of managing projects from the procurement stages through to final account.

The SQS will take accountability for personal and professional development as well as sharing knowledge and best practice within the team.

You will have a desire to understand and promote the Company purpose, vision, values and culture.

Hours of work are 42½ hours per week – Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 5.00pm

Salary negotiable circa £50,000 + pa with option of company car

The SQS will take accountability for personal and professional development as well as sharing knowledge and best practice within the team.

Developing a portfolio of clients you will:

· Preparation of and the evaluation and submission of claims from Subcontractors for Compensation Events/Variations

· Review weekly site records including allocation sheets and site diaries – providing feedback and advice where appropriate

· Final account negotiation achieving the best possible outcomes

· Management of commercial aspects with the client including Compensation Events/Variations, Extension of Time and Completion request etc

· Work in conjunction with the contract delivery teams to ensure the budgets are not exceeded

· Manage the commercial aspects of subcontract accounts from procurement to interim and final account agreement

· You will ensure that the month on month cash position is positive and the forecasted project margin is met or exceeded.

· You will be responsible for administering subcontracts to include payments and claims and submitting progress claims to the client.

· Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors

· Produce management information required and take responsibility for the accuracy of information (Provisions, Cash flows, Applications, etc)

· Manage Risk Registers identifying project risks, opportunities and value engineering opportunities

· Ensure that the contract delivery team are briefed and have sufficient commercial support to monitor and react to budget variances

· Maximising value and minimising cost, ensuring that appropriate controls are in place to monitor and manage the operating cost base

Skills and Qualifications

· It is essential, that you can demonstrate a passion for Quantity Surveying and have an appreciation of construction processes.

· Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills, The ability to work in a team, methodical work approach, attention to detail.

· Flexibility, resilience and the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels

· Commitment to the provision of excellent customer service

· BSc (hons) in Quantity Surveyor or equivalent qualification.

· 10+ years cross sector experience in a Senior/QS/PQS environment.

· Chartered Quantity Surveyor or working towards becoming chartered

· To have a full UK Driving Licence is essential, as travel and site visits will be necessary.

· CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
