A new monthly networking event for the construction industry has been hailed a huge success – with plans to grow it even further over the coming months.

The Shropshire Constructing Excellence social, held at The Loopy Shrew in Shrewsbury, has grown in attendance every month since its launch in February.

Hosted by leading quantity surveyors CQS Solutions – which has bases in Telford, Mid Wales and Birmingham – the event aims to create an informal gettogether for anyone working in the industry.

CQS Solutions owner Tim Lloyd said: “We have been delighted with the success of the new networking event, which has seen some fantastic attendances in its first few months.

“We wanted to create an event where people could meet up after work, grab a drink and make some great connections over relaxed conversations.

“The response has been really fantastic. People appreciate that there are no sixtysecond pitches, awkward intros or forced engagement – just top industry people getting together and sharing valuable conversations.”

The group meets at 5pm on the third Thursday of every month, with the next event set for June 18. There is no cost to attend and no formal booking process, although guests are encouraged to comment or message organisers to help with headcount.

Tim said the aim now was to continue growing the community month by month.

“Construction is built on relationships. The more we can bring people together, the stronger the sector becomes and the more we can do to drive the economy in this region.

“We want to keep up the momentum and grow the group even further over the second half of the year and would urge anyone who hasn’t been along yet to give it a try.”
