When global surfacing giant Eurovia needed a full re-measure of a major new highways project, it called in CQS Solutions based on its established reputation for delivering results on time and to the brief.
The road scheme in Lincolnshire had gone through some design changes after the tender process at the end of 2022. A full re-measure was needed to assess the impact of the alterations on the original tender.
Eurovia called in the CQS Solutions team as an external agency so that its own site staff could focus on the day to day delivery of the project – section 5 of the Spalding North West Relief Road.
Andy Dunn, Eurovia commercial manager, said it was apparent that a re-measure would be beneficial following Eurovia’s internal planning process and some design changes at the end of the tender period.
“CQS provided an expert resource whose work has delivered exactly on the brief. The professional attitude of CQS and close collaboration with our site team has given us real confidence in the final output,” he said.
The highways project includes major earthworks, a new bridge structure over a live railway track, a new roundabout and major trunk road construction including embankments, drainage and landscaping.
The CQS team was brought in to provide the bills of quantities based on the Highways method of measurement. The work was divided into sections to match the project activity schedule which meant each section could be compared directly to the tendered sum and programme.
“It meant that we could give Eurovia an accurate reconciliation of costs and quantities for the effective commercial management of the scheme at each stage,” said Tim Lloyd of CQS Solutions.
